i regularly dye skeins of fibres - from mulberry silk to slubby cotton - using almost exclusively my own homegrown plants and flowers.
when in stock, these naturally dyed yarns will be posted here in my shop. alternatively, feel free to contact me for further details or with any custom dye requests.

homegrown or foraged plants that i use include:
Purples: Japanese indigo + madder/ Woad/ Cotinus (smokebush)/ Chocolate cosmos
Blues: Japanese indigo/ Woad/ Scabiosa black knight
Dark greens: Japanese indigo + French marigolds/ Dyer's camomile/ Goldenrod + Black walnuts/ Common reed flowers
Light greens: Japanese indigo + French marigolds/ Dyer's camomile/ Goldenrod/ Common Reed flowers.
Yellows: French marigolds/ Dyer's camomile /Goldenrod
Medium oranges: Sulphureus cosmos
Dark oranges: Coreopsis tinctoria + Black walnuts
Reds: Madder/ Eucalyptus
Pinks: Madder/ Cotinus (smokebush)
Browns: Black walnuts
Note that all fibres are always properly scoured (cleaned) and mordanted (prepared using gentle and natural chemicals) before being naturally dyed. This preparation allows the natural dyes to bond with the fibres, creating strong and stable colours.
